UPDATE
Well...things are slowly, but surely coming together! FEMA has stepped up to the plate and subsidized my lodging at the Rodeway Hotel in Clearwater, Florida for thirty (30) days and offered/granted $750 emergency funds to boot!!
I purchased a used car, a 2008 Silver Ford Focus Coupe. It is in okay condition, and I am doing some necessary repairs/upgrades to bring it up to snuff. "The MacDaddy" has been adjudicated a "TOTAL LOSS" and Progressive Insurance is paying our agreed upon value for such a loss. Once I decide on my next station/living facility, I will move ALL my personal items from "The MacDaddy" to that abode. The upstairs did not sustain any water damage, hence many of my personal items survived, i.e., clothes, appliances, etc. With that said, the storage bays were flooded and ALL items stored there are also a TOTAL LOSS. I am covered up to $5,000 for those items. Once ALL the items that survived are removed by me, Progressive will tow "The MacDaddy" away for salvage value!
I am contemplating moving to an independent living facility, Mease Life in Dunedin, or possibly something comparable down south in the West Palm Beach area near relatives and my cousin. Needless to say, the facility that I choose has to be able to sustain a Cat IV or V Hurricane!! Mease Life is in a Non-Evacuation Zone and is thirty-two (32) feet above sea level.
This has been a harrowing experience, especially for this time in my life, but I feel lucky when compared to those folks in Northwest North Carolina and others in such dire straits, not to mention those who lost their lives!
