KEEP THE GOOD ONES!!
Presently, I am categorized as a "Travelling Veteran", with my home base as San Antonio, Texas. I travelled the USA in "The MacDaddy" for almost thirteen (13) years until Hurricanes Helen & Milton respectively WIPED ME OUT!
I initially got stranded in Dunedin, Florida during Covid, when I decided to supplement my VA Medical Care with one of Optimum's Medicare Advantage Plans, hence, my lucky pairing with Dr. Ananda Som, my PCP with WellMed! He saved my life and here is the story!! As long as I am in or near Clearwater, Florida, he will be my Medicare Advantage Primary Care Physician (PCP) supplementing the Superb Medical Care That I Get With/From Dr. Daniel W. Franks With The VA!!!
With that said, my Life's Journey would never have made it this far along chronologically/medically to meet up with Dr. Som without Dr. Daniel W. Franks DO at the South Texas VA Medical Center! Basically, he has been my "Go To" Primary Care Physician for over Twenty (20) Years at The Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas...He knows my Medical History better than any other Physician and his care, advice, medical expertise, and prescriptions have "Extended My Warranty"!! When I lost everything in Hurricanes Helene & Milton in Dunedin, Florida in September 2024, I checked my VA Secured Emails and sure enough, there was one, TOTALLY UNSOLICITED, from Dr. Franks, a frequent reader of My Blog! He asked if I was okay, was there anything that I needed, was there anything that he could do for me, did I have enough meds and if not, he would get them to me ASAP! Tell me folks, do you have a "DOC" who would do this for you...I BET NOT!! Not many of them left these days! Dr. Franks, I know you are reading this and I have said Thank You many times, but let me do so again..."Thank You!!" I not only consider you the PRIMARY MEDICAL PERSON in my life that I run everything by/through, but also a GOOD & COMPASSIONATE FRIEND! I hope you remain my Doctor/Friend (either Via Video and/or In Person) FOREVER!!
Folks...like I said, when you find Doctors like Dr. Franks & Dr. Som, be sure YOU KEEP THEM AS YOUR MAIN PRIORITY. They not only know your Medical History...THEY TRULY CARE!! And, additionally as is the case with Dr. Franks, you become Good Friends!
I am still on the fence/hunt regarding buying another Class A MotorHome aka "The MacDaddy II" so I can return to travelling, for sure getting back to Texas! I still maintain my San Antonio permanent address, friendships, etc., for just that reason.
In closing, please heed this advice in order that you too can "Extend Your Own Warranty"!!
