LIFE CHANGING/ CATASTROPHIC EXPERIENCE!!

Well...at Seventy-Nine (79), a NEW LIFE begins for Uncle Ricky! I have lost everything due to HURRICANES Helene and Milton.  I am *Hanging Out* at the Wyndham North Hotel in Tallahassee, until Monday, if necessary, with my lifelong friend (50 years) Terry, Sheri (Terry's roommate for 20 years), their dog Bella, and Fernando (my cat) waiting to see if there is ANYTHING left to come back to in Dunedin and if so, collect any salvageable belongings still in "The MacDaddy".

My car was picked up by an outfit called WHEELZY and paid me $300 salvage.  I was satisfied with that and their expeditious and professional service...one headache removed!  The Progressive third (3rd) party adjuster, Stevi (gal) called me Sunday when we were leaving for Tallahassee for refuge and asked me to meet her at 1 PM at "The MacDaddy" and I said I could not because I was bailing for Tallahassee and on my way.  She said she would inspect it on her own because I told her that ALL was open and/or unlocked.  After doing her evaluation, she said that it was a total loss and she was inspecting the underneath storage bays for damaged items which are covered by my policy as *Storage*. She seems capable, professional, and compassionate!  I have $2,000 for living expenses which will go fast because I will pay for Terry & Sheri's room in Tallahassee for putting me up, transportation, etc., after Helene and also putting up with me (LOL)!!

One additional harrowing experience that I will share with all!  At 10 PM the night of Helene's arrival, 09/26/2024 my TV went off, so I looked outside at my Dish Satellite Box (on the ground).  I noticed six (6) inches of water and a surge rearing its ugly head. Within forty-five (45) minutes the water was knee deep.  When it was about shin high, I attempted to move my tow car to a LITTLE higher ground!  When getting out of the car in shin high water, a transformer blew 50 yards from me, and I immediately thought I was toast!  I immediately went back to "The MacDaddy"!!  At thigh high, Sean, my next-door neighbor, and I bailed in his truck with my cat (Fernando) and his Bulldog (Meatball) for safe haven at house in Safety Harbor...APPROPRIATELY NAMED EH!  The next morning Terry picked me up and I stayed with him and Sherri until we left for Tallahassee on Sunday.  That is where I am now.

In closing, I and Fernando feel EXTREMELY lucky to be safe and sound, even though we have NOTHING but our SOULS/BEINGS, all thanks to friends aiding in our plight at a most inopportune time! Don't worry about use because we have Hope & We Are Strong Willed!  Worry about and Help the hundreds of thousands in much worse shape than us!!

Until my next post, may you ALL have Good Fortune!!

More To Come!
